Frugal Living for Dummies

I purchased this booklet for $.99 about 3 years ago. I've always known that my spending/saving habits needed to change but I guess I wasn't ready to actually change. I have just begun reading this and a few things have really stood out. I'm sure some of it is common sense but I thought the points were rather poignant.

  • "Your budget isn't a prison, your debt is".

  • "Getting rid of the contentment thieves enables you to live happily within your means and save you untold dollars in the process". My goal for today is to unsubscribe to every store email that I receive. No more impulsive purchases for 30%off and free shipping.

  • "Purchasing something on sale doesn't mean that you've 'saved' money. It means that you didn't spend it. If you don't put the savings in the bank then it will just be spent on more stuff".

  • "Always keep a positive goal in mind. Instead of seeing frugal living as something you have to do, remind yourself continually that frugality is something that you've chosen to do to meet future goals or to live the lifestyle you want". I think by keeping this blog I'm being accountable for my goals and my progress!

I'm only on Chapter 1 so I'm sure I'll be referencing this book in the future. So if you see FL4D you know what it means!
